The wine

ÀN/2 is a small gift — but a truly rewarding one — from the Mediterranean countryside, crafted by a team dedicated to championing native varieties and wines with a character all their own. Few will have heard of grape varieties such as Callet or Fogoneu (and occasionally Manto Negro, though not present in every vintage of this wine). Native to Mallorca and beautifully adapted to its land, these varieties capture the island's distinctive iron-rich soils and express a truly individual aromatic profile. ÀN/2 is an honest wine: approachable, high-quality and beautifully made, it reflects the true character of Mallorca. Full of personality, it also offers outstanding value for money.

What does this wine taste like?

In the glass, ÀN/2 reveals itself as an approachable wine from the outset: a dark morello-cherry red of medium density, clean and bright, without excessive concentration. On the nose, its wide array of aromas is immediately striking — open and inviting, yet never overstated. Notes of fresh, ripe fruit (cherry, strawberry, even a subtle whisper of cherries in liqueur) mingle with sweet strawberry, balsamic touches and a mineral backbone reminiscent of dry stone. Wonderfully fresh and unmistakably Mediterranean, it is wrapped in a gentle veil of smoky and lactic nuances — a wine of real complexity. On the palate, the sweetness suggested on the nose meets a subtle bitterness, lending the wine a memorable, layered character. Intense yet balanced and easy to drink, it is generous and medium-bodied, with earthy undertones and a touch of pepper that, alongside its lively acidity, deliver a refreshing, delicious finish. Enveloping and elegant — bringing to mind a Burgundy Pinot Noir — juicy and rounded, it lingers pleasantly on the palate... though the bottle, sadly, does not linger nearly as long. The finish brings gentle toasty notes and a touch of scrubland to close the tasting on a most satisfying note.

Ànima Negra Viticultors

Ànima Negra Viticultors

The Ànima Negra story began by chance, like many other stories do, when three Majorcan friends, Francesc Grimalt, Pere Obrador and Miguel Ángel Cerdà came up with the idea of making a wine from native grape varieties found growing in the surrounding countryside. It happened not so long ago (in about 1994), but thanks to the great enthusiasm they felt for this project and the excellent results obtained right from the start, it can now be truthfully said that their winery has...
