Matsu is more than just an ordinary winery or wine, it is a contemporary project of sustainable viticulture that brings together an exclusive collection of high expression wines.
Matsu means 'to wait' in Japanese and provides the perfect definition of an initiative that combines the Oriental culture's concern for what is natural with the most advanced techniques in biodynamic agriculture employed in European farming. All their wines are organic; the vines are grown in a completely natural way, avoiding any chemical or synthetic herbicides, insecticides and fungicides. Matsu represents the essence of organic wine, and a 'wait' is included during the production cycle which allows it to finally reach its ideal balance.
Matsu is part of the Vintae Group, a new corporate venture set up by José Miguel Arambarri Terrero, a businessman from La Rioja who is passionate about the world of wine and has now been joined by his two sons, Ricardo y José Miguel. Other projects in Spain run by this innovative, creative company are: Maetierra Dominum (Valles de Sadacia), Winery Arts (Ribera del Queiles),Aroa Bodegas (Navarra), Castillo de Maetierra (Valles de Sadacia), Hacienda López de Haro (Rioja), Bodega Bardos (Ribera del Duero) and Proyecto Garnachas (Ribera del Queiles y Calatayud).
