Named after the Provincial Road that connects Vittoria and Pedalino, a symbol of the wine-growing area of south-eastern Sicily, the SP68 Bianco is the spritely and pleasant entry wine by Arianna Occhipinti. Vinified in concrete, refined on the lees and unfiltered, it is produced from a beautiful vineyard of red earth and limestone grown organically.

Arianna is one of the rare lovers and supporters of the Albanello, an endangered vine that makes up half of the white SP68 (the other half is reserved for Zibibbo, which gives aroma and roundness). This vine, Albanello, is native to the Syracusan, Catania and Nisseno areas, perhaps originally from Magna Graecia, and was celebrated by Veronelli and Soldati as one of the finest white grapes of Sicily.

Albanello gives this white SP68 a strong primary scent and a nice mineral and almond finish. Golden clear to the glass, SP68 Bianco expresses notes of aromatic herbs (thyme and rosemary) with herbaceous and spicy scents. The texture is enriched with freshness from rose and orange, with softer and more persuasive flavours of honey and dried fruit. The taste is fresh, balanced by a soft body that finds its counterpoint in a beautiful savoury and almond finish.

Smooth with a hint of funk

From a great wine maker, a suttle wine with a warmth and depth to the taste. Great with pasta and fish.

    pas terrible

ça manque de force et de profondeur. le nez est beau, fin, et délicat, mais la bouche est trop molle, petit vin pour la soif

    A découvrir

Vin très agréable qui peut être surprenant par rapport aux arômes et notes qu'il dévoile. A la fois sec et fruité avec une pointe de minéral. A découvrir.

    Already a big fan

And having tasted her latest vintage at a recent wine fair, I'm a bigger fan than ever. Her stuff keeps getting better, and the white in particular, is well worth keeping an eye out for.

    Tota una sorpresa!

Vam tastar aquest vi a Menorca i va ser tota una sorpresa... albanello, que em va recordar molt en color i sabor a la malvasia de s'illa. Molt fresc i afruitat, i a l'hora amb força cos. Repetirem!

    Arianna Occhipinti

Arianna Occhipinti is a young, determined and charismatic Sicilian who, starting with her degree in oenology, decided to dedicate herself to what she loves most: her land, her vineyards, her wine. The land extends in the heart of the Cerasuolo di Vittoria area, in the Monte Iblei scenario, in the Fossa di Lupo and Piraino districts. They are very ancient lands, where the frappato di Vittoria and the Nero d'Avola originated.  Arianna's biggest challeng...
