Details for Parada de Atauta 2016
Bottle size and vintage
In the wilds of the countryside and from vines growing at an altitude of 1,000 metres, emanates this silky, elegant wine whose quality is patently obvious and which comes over as straightforward, direct and, unlike its winery siblings, very accessible right from the start.
The Dominio de Atauta vineyards are located in the most easterly area of the denomination, in the province of Soria, in an incredibly harsh environment that appears almost forgotten and abandoned, yet one that still has much to offer. Its wines prove the point, possessing an elegance to which few Riberas can aspire.
Parada de Atauta is a Ribera to its very core, a mature wine with a generous amount of fruit and minerality; aromas of cassis, earthy notes, wafts of tobacco and toasted bread, and subtle undertones of caramel. Its entry on the palate is sweet and, although it favours decanting, you can tell this is an agreeable wine just by uncorking the bottle; flavoursome, rounded, with well-integrated ageing notes and a slight choclatey bitterness. Warm, glyceric, balsamic, silky and seamless, a Ribera true to its origins, yet bearing the Atauta hallmark.

Very nice Ribera at good price
Full bodied and fruity, quite big but nice tannins. I’d chill this a bit to 16-17 C and leave it open for at least 2 hours in a room temperature. I think that this is 4,5 stars wine and giving it 4 wouldn’t be fair so that’s why I gave it a full 5.by: Karl Laegaard (01/05/2017) - Vintage 2014
This wine is something special. Full body, high intensity, high alcohol, long after tast, and much more but still RdD style.
Dominio de Atauta
The Dominio de Atauta winery is located in the Atauta valley in the province of Soria in central Spain. They own 21 hectares of vines and supervise another 22, meaning they manage around 600 plots altogether at altitudes of over 1000 metres. The winery's goal is to demonstrate the full potential of their pre-phylloxera Tinto Fino vines with ages ranging between 85 and 150 years old. The Atauta valley has a history of over 500 years of winemaking in extremely severe conditions...
