Details for Aires de Garbet 2017
Review
Aires de Garbet is a red of unquestionable importance that exhibits all the character of the Perelada wines. Led by elegance and complexity, its ageing plays a very significant part in the process and prepares it for a long life ahead. Aires de Garbet is one of those unique wines that doesn't succumb to trends and has a very clear idea of what its style should be.
It's made exclusively from grapes of the Garnacha variety planted on Finca Garbet's slate soils, one of the most bucolic vineyards in the world, where the vines on the terraces find themselves challenged by strong winds. As required for great wines, the grapes are harvested manually in various lots and after the must has fermented, there follows an ageing period in Bordeaux barrels of French oak from the Tronçais forests, turning it into an absolute gem.
Aires de Garbet is an intense, elegant, mineral and fresh red. Appearing a Picota cherry colour of high density, an impressive nose emerges that displays a wide array of aromas: Mediterranean herbs, ripe black fruit, fine cocoa and a convincing minerality. On the palate, after a good decanting, its tannins fade to give way to the Garnacha's ripeness, making it creamy and balsamic. Its splendid finish, highlighting elegant toasty notes and saline touches, rounds off a red of magnificent length and an excellent finish. In order to enjoy it fully we recommend serving it in a tall-stemmed glass.
