0.75 L - 2017

Although this wine will not reach its peak for 4 or 5 years, nevertheless it presently puts in a more than satisfactory performance. In good form and with considerable character, on the nose the predominant aromas are of ripe fruit and fine toast coming over elegantly from top-quality oak, spices (vanilla) and mineral notes. When first on the palate it feels dry and silky, but immediately there is an explosion of ripe fruit (cranberries) with mineral hints and touches of coffee and tobacco. Striking a perfect balance between alcohol and acid, only unsettled by a lengthy finish decidedly tannic that suggests the need to breathe and some time. Perfect for cellaring. (24 months in American oak barrels, and 12 months in bottle before being released for sale.)

Tinto Pesquera

Tinto Pesquera

Alejandro Fernández has been intrinsically linked to vine-growing in the Ribera del Duero region for nearly 40 years, following in his father's footsteps and the family tradition. When his first 'Tinto' was released in 1975, he had fulfilled his ambition, perhaps unwittingly then, to produce a great wine. This is the original, his flagship winery, which helped to secure the successful fortunes of a nascent wine-producing DO, where the Tempranillo grape variety has always reig...
