Emilio Moro is the bodega's top production wine, and the one that proudly bears the founder's name and image. In the words of José Moro, "it's the alma mater, it's my father, and that says it all". Indeed, there's not much more to add: produced using vines aged between 15 and 25 years old, it picks up the essence of the three types of soil found in the Ribera del Duero endowing the wine with a wide variety of nuances. A lovely wine, rich, fresh, lively, elegant and complex: the winery's flagship and a great representative of this Castilian denomination.
What does this wine taste like?
In the glass, it appears a Picota cherry colour and replicates a great variety of olfactory sensations which will go on lasting afterwards on the palate in an intense, most pleasant and satisfying way. Its richness and aroma variety are a focal feature, complete with toasty notes, cherries, liquorice and vanilla. On the palate it's juicy and fresh, easily identifiable as a Ribera del Duero due to how well it combines giving expression and pure pleasure. It's harmonious, with the fruit taking the limelight; having soft tannins and perfectly integrated oak, it's seductively appealing and immensely enjoyable to drink.
Intense / Picota cherry red / Bluish glints
Balanced / Ripe fruit / Cocoa / Spices / Hardwoods
Powerful / Fleshy / Earthy

super smooth for such a young wine....try it !
Stumbled across this wine in my local tapas. The waiter recommended it to me as my usual pradorey was off the menu......it's a great bottle of wine, really smooth, full bodied complex flavour...crazy considering it's only a 2015......goes great with any kind of rich pasta or red meet dish....if you love your Rioja's give this a try it won't let you down!!
Never fails to impress
Having discovered this wine a number of years ago in Ibiza, year after year it has never disappointed but I've never found any stockists in the UK, and now I can enjoy it in my own home courtesy of Vinissimus!
Loses to the competition
Emilio Moro makes excellent wines but for the price there are better crianzas that this one. The after taste is short and the taste itself is weak. But this wine is very well produced and easy to drink.
Always a favourite
Emilio Moro has been a favourite wine for a number of years. Great aroma and fabulous lasting quality. Solid red fruit delivered smoothly and leaving you wanting more.
Classic - needs another year
Unfortunate Emilio Moro keeps his price settings … likely due to vast followers. Consistent Moro style and if you like you will love it … better in 1 year.

Bodegas Emilio Moro has the perfect platform for producing great wines: family tradition (José and Javier Moro are the third generation of vine growers), a strategic site (in the heart of the Ribera del Duero), pure clones of the indigenous grape, excellent quality soils (clay, chalk and gravel) and an ideal orientation. The winery currently owns some 200 hectares of vineyards, planted and grafted with an excellent Tempranillo clone recouped from their oldest vineyards. Some...
