Mas de Mancuso is now a range that includes the 2019 Mas de Mancuso Cariñena, produced with grapes from a small 80-year-old plot on very stony soils in the village of Almonacid. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and matured in Flextank egg. This is dark, ripe, varietal and eminently Mediterranean, with pungent notes of esparto grass and tree bark, and there are hints of wet slate that in a way reminded me of an old-style Priorat. It's full-bodied with abundant tannins, pungent acidity and an earthy rustic touch. 1,300 bottles were filled in October 2020.
