Review

Marqués de Murrieta Primer Rosé is, as its name indicates, the first rosé made by Marqués de Murrieta, a rosé of great elegance, produced exclusively from Mazuelo grapes, and released onto the market to complement the fantastic catalogue already put out by this winery, with over 160 years of history to its credit and always a clear frontrunner for the future.

It's a very low production rosé, a select wine, using only the free-run juice in its vinification, the essence of grapes sourced from very old, low-yielding vines grown on the exclusive Ygay estate, owned by the winery in the most southerly part of the Rioja Alta sub-zone. After a slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine rests for forty days on its fine lees, acquiring a velvety, glyceric character that will later delight our palates. The Mazuelo, a grape of extraordinary character and scant production in the Rioja region, enables the Marqués de Murrieta Primer Rosé to stand out due to its aromatic singularity, its lovely pink colour, not the usual salmon-pink, and its truly harmonious mouthfeel. A fresh wine with the spirit of ambition, the most youthful and subtle expression of Marqués de Murrieta, and the confirmation that rosé wine is undergoing a new period of dignified recognition and commercial success.

A limited production of 5,000 bottles and a demand which is predicted to exceed that number... Don't be left without yours!

Good Rose

Really liked this Rose. Purchased for a special occasion. There is better value to be found however.

Delicioso

Un rosado sorprendente En aspecto parece un vino provenzal pero es mucho más consistente, aromático y riquísimo Una grata sorpresa Eso si su precio es un pelin excesivo

Marqués de Murrieta

Marqués de Murrieta

Marqués de Murrieta is one of the most historic Spanish wineries. Its origins date back to 1852 when Luciano de Murrieta started trading his wines in the New World. Today, 165 years later, the impressive Ygay estate seems untouched by the passage of time, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Nowadays, Vicente D. Cebrián-Sagarriga, the present Count of Creixell, manages the winery with his sister Cristina and a skilled young team which understands how to ...
