The wine
Izadi Crianza is a harmonious wine providing a perfect example of the splendid Rioja crianza wines as well as offering us the elegant character of wines from this region. A red wine blending effortlessly the juiciness of ripe fruit with the spiced and toasted notes of cedar and smoke thanks to its time spent ageing in American oak. Undoubtedly, a wonderful example of concentration, balance and personality in a well-defined style. If you are looking to try the new Rioja, wines which look to the future with ambition while remembering their traditions, it is hard to find a better example than the Izadi Crianza.
What does this wine taste like?
This is a wine with a delightful medium-intensity ruby-red colour and unctuous legs in the glass. Intense aromas combine red fruit and liquorice with wooden notes from its ageing process. Harmonious and balanced in the mouth, a perfectly-integrated creaminess from the oak allows us to feel the fine grains of tannins on the tongue. A little darker than many traditional crianza wines, it finds a balance where ripe fruit is enjoyed but not to excess while a more modern sensation thrills the palate with delicate spicy and herbal, smoky and lactic hints elegantly accompanying a measured juicy texture. A long and lingering after-taste of fruity and floral flavours transports us to the vineyards where the whole process of creating this wonderful and contemporary red Rioja began.
