From Poderi Boscarelli wines emanates all the passion felt by the family of the Marquess of Ferrari Corradi for the lands of Montepulciano and its highly-esteemed produce. The winery is located in Cervognano, a historic region for the production of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and surrounded by vineyards lying on the gentle hills which overlook the Val di Chiana. Here the vines sink their roots deep into the rich clay and sandy soils, and enjoy an especially favourable mild microclimate.

The company's catalogue includes nine labels among which can be found wines under the Rosso di Montepulciano and Vin Santo di Montepulciano denominations, also the odd Super Tuscan,... but the Nobile di Montepulciano wines, apart from boasting the longest tradition, are undoubtedly the ones that bring the most comprehensive understanding of the winery's work and philosophy. This Nobile de Montepulciano is produced from the Sangiovese, Colorino, Canaiolo and Mammolo varieties; it ferments in oak or steel barrels, with indigenous yeasts, and is aged for 18 to 24 months in oak barrels of various capacities and origins.

The result is a red wine of radiant colour and ruby flecks. In the glass it exudes complex, attractive aromas of red and black fruits, flowers, spices and lots of minerality. On the palate it displays an exuberant freshness which successfully softens its tannicity. This is a wine which, thanks to the clay soil of the Cervognano hills, is gifted with very good structure and is capable of long evolution if properly cellared.

Good, not great

Features the classic aromas and taste of the region, but comes a bit flat. Not a bad choice for a casual meal but you can do better for that price.
