The wine

The Carignan grape variety is not a common one in the Penedés region which makes it unusual to find a monovarietal Carignan wine from this appellation, but Parany is one such case. This wine is produced using only Carignan grapes — from vines planted in 1974 in a limestone soil plot facing south-west.

The grapes are harvested manually and undergo a double selection, first on the vine and secondly in the cellar itself. They are then cold-macerated and fermented in barrels at a controlled temperature, before being stood to age for twelve months in French oak.

Only 280 bottles of this wine were produced with its first vintage but the results couldn't have been more encouraging. The wine has a deep purple colour with violet rims and wide legs. A fresh intense aroma of ripe red fruits, plum skins, spices and balsamic hints of Mediterranean bush-scrub. A medium structure, mineral, fruity, with a good level of acidity refreshing delicately sweet tannins. The result is a flavoursome wine, with a long lingering aftertaste.

Finca Viladellops

Finca Viladellops

Located at an altitude of 200-250 metres above sea level, in the rugged terrain of the Garraf Massif, Finca Viladellops produces wines with a discernible character of the terroir. The soils, which are poor, determine the lack of vigour in the plants, the low yields and small berries, and provide the wines with minerality, as well as iodine and saline notes to the whites, and chalky notes to the reds. The large amount of sediments and marine fossils found in this land are clear...
