Petra Cabernet Sauvignon Potenti

Potenti is the single varietal Cabernet Sauvignon made by winemaker Beppe Caviola and the Petra winery, a project set up by the Moretti family in Tuscany, after the worldwide recognition of their Bellavista winery in Franciacorta.

Originating from Suvereto, a vineyard blessed with a constant sea breeze, the grapes which give rise to Potenti are harvested in October and ferment in 100-hl oak barrels. Afterwards, there follows an ageing period of 18 months in oak barrels and several more of refining in bottle.

The result is a red that's a lovely, intense ruby colour, with an elegant nose and a little bit rustic, like the countryside in the Val di Cornia, which is where the winery is located and its emblematic building, designed by the architect Mario Botta. Featuring in its bouquet are black berries, blackberry jam and other vegetal aromas on a balsamic background that highlights the spicy notes: cloves, green pepper, cocoa and liquorice.

On the palate it appears full and opulent, with tannins present but fine, and just the right amount of a very pleasant freshness. A rich, austere and vigorous wine which emanates aromas of the Tuscany coast and the power of its terroir.
