The wine

The 'Fincas' collection from Castillo de Perelada envisages an ode to the terroir, a true exaltation of the land and grape. The objective of the wines encompassed within it is to show the consumer how important is the landscape surrounding the vineyards and how wines are different from one another depending on the character of the soils.

The Finca La Garriga Blanc comes from the estate bearing its name, a flat terrain of 41 hectares, composed of loamy-sand with gravel, and covered with vines aged more than 50 years old, the oldest owned by this Empordà company. The plants, pruned to a low level, provide grapes of the finest quality which clearly exhibit a distinctive personality.

After the appearance of its golden colour, aromas emerge of candied white fruit, white flowers, hay and the fine salinity of a none too distant sea. Its stay of seven months in acacia barrels brings out fine wood-based hints, but always showing discretion. Following an advisable aeration, the most delicious aromas materialise, such as aniseed, crystallised ginger and honey.

On the palate it's both oily and fresh, with plenty of character, but without any strident notes. The volume of the Chardonnay grape embraces the verticality of the indigenous Cariñena Blanca to reveal an elegant and very well-balanced profile. The periodic stirring of the lees endows it with extra unctuosity which allows the wine to glide through slowly until its refreshing citrus and herbaceous finish. The Finca La Garriga Blanc clearly demonstrates that exceptional white wines can be produced in the Empordà.
