Bottle size and vintage
The lands belonging to the Fèlsina winery comprise up to 600 ha of vineyards, olive groves, woods and other cereal crops, vegetables and sunflowers. At one time a farm owned by the Grand Dukes of Tuscany, it was a place especially dedicated to growing olives with hardly any hectares given over to vines, but in the last 50 years Fèlsina has turned it into one of the most important wineries in the production of Sangiovese variety wines.
The vineyards which give rise to the Fèlsina Chianti Classico, the company's entry wine, are located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, a municipality located in the south-eastern area of the denomination. The altitude of the land ranges between 320 and 420 metres and the soil composition varies too: in the highest part there is a predominance of quartz, limestone and alluvial deposits, while the area closer to Siena has a prevalence of sandstone and mud.
Made solely from the Sangiovese variety, the Fèlsina Chianti Classico ages for 12 months in medium-capacity Slavonian oak barrels, and a small batch in second and third-fill barrels. The result is a wine of amazing richness and intensity which imparts sensual aromas of ripe fruit, spices and an irresistible minerality. Cherries, flowers and stones are at the heart of this wine, but besides these there are also other aromas of liquorice and tobacco which contribute elegance and charm to the ensemble. It proves delightfully consistent on the palate, with a velvety texture that makes every single drop an absolute pleasure.

The perfect house wine for me
It is not easy to get a Chianti this good for such a relative small prize. Dark ruby red, cherries, almonds on the nose, bit of oak, not too much, medium tannins. This Fèlsina Chianti Classico is the perfect house wine for me. I already enjoyed the 2013 so I ordered 14 bottles of the 2015. Better be safe than sorry:)by: Godfrey (25/06/2017) - Vintage 2014
The Felsina Berardenga 2014 is one of my favourites from this excellent Chianti producer. The balance on the palate is more fruity and the finish less dry than the 2013.by: Evald Gunnarsen (29/03/2018) - Vintage 2015
Value for money
It's a very good buy compared to the price. It's a light and typical Chianti that goes well with food - pasta, chicken, vegetables etc. Serve and drink at 17 - 18* C.by: Kalle Rajala (11/07/2018) - Vintage 2016
More developed than vintage 2015 of this wine. Open and balanced, ready to drink. Typical Felsina CC. You should hold it for a while if you prefer softer structure.by: Godfrey (25/06/2017) - Vintage 2013
A good classical Felsina.
The Felsina Berardenga 2013 is a classic example of this estate's production with a good balance of fruit, acidity and tannin, and a crisp, dry finish.
Wine from Fèlsina
In Etruscan, Fèlsina means "place of hospitality and dining". And indeed right here, within the ancient walls of this farm that you must visit and experience, our customers have found one of the safest and most reliable ports of Chianti Classico, where the region on its border southward verges towards warmer climates and produces complex, full-bodied, velvety, smooth wines. In the Fèlsina winemaking tradition, there are no duds among the Castelnuovo barriques. The great Chian...
