This is the first white wine to be released by Alejandro Fernández – an oak-aged, Airen single varietal made from grapes grown in the Paraje La Golosa parcel on his El Vínculo estate in Castile-La Mancha. After years of experience with Tempranillo, especially in the Ribera del Duero, the talented winemaker has taken this widely-grown variety and shown what careful nurturing can achieve.
This Airen releases its pineapple and exotic fruit aromas and an unctuous, rich feel prepares the palate for a good balance between acidity and sweetness. A period of 24 months in barrel leaves its mark, showing an elegant, sophisticated touch on the fruity background, and the realization that this wine will only improve and become more rounded after further time spent in bottle.
Alejandro Fernández first made his name in the Ribera del Duero, but he has also made his mark and his presence felt in DO La Mancha, with his red El Vínculo and white Alejairen. In an area more associated with hefty production levels of everyday wines, he has implemented a different approach, offering high quality.
