Tenuta Argentiera Bolgheri Poggio ai Ginepri

On the fascinating coast of Northern Maremma, about 100 km south-west of Florence, in the small and prestigious DOC Bolgheri rises the Tenuta Argentiera estate, part of the ancient Tenuta di Donoratico estate which belonged to the Serristori Florentine family. In the Etruscan period inside the estate's plateau there were millponds, natural springs and silver mines, from which the name Argentiera came from, which made the area an important mining and agricultural centre. Today the estate is owned by Stanislaus Turnauer and the Corrado and Marcello Fratini brothers.

Management has always paid particular attention to this fascinating place, exalting in every way the nature of a land particularly suited to the production of great red wines. Argentiera, at the southern end of the denomination, is also the estate closest to the sea of all ​​Bolgheri and the one that reaches its maximum altitude developing from the plains to the hills. Its vineyards are completely surrounded by green Mediterranean vegetation and the countryside on which the estate stands is bordered by avenues of ancient maritime pines and olive trees in an evocative landscape full of intense aromas. The land, of various compositions, is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah.

From sandy and silty soils of medium texture, less than 100 metres above sea level, Poggio ai Ginepri is the result of the separate vinification of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot grapes extracted with a soft pressing. A wine suited to the harmony between elegance and concentration, this Bolgheri DOC represents a rather youthful and snappy interpretation of the international mixed vintage from which it derives. With its frank and direct bouquet, it is an authentic Bordeaux wine of great breed, with a decisive component of Cabernet (40% Sauvignon and 20% Franc) which provides particularly intense and enveloping notes, along with hints of red fruit, jams and undergrowth. On the palate the fraction of Merlot (30%) is felt with a pleasant and persuasive softness, accompanied by high intensity and a surprising minerality.
