Fattoria Sorbaiano has been one of the founding wineries of the "Consorzio Vino DOC Montescudaio", an organisation comprising 14 wineries which have been involved in a praiseworthy project: the full implementation of organic and biodynamic farming methods in the area.
The Fattoria Sorbaiano's pleasant site, one of the most attractive to be found in the Cecina Valley, is located in the area furthest inland and the highest part of the Montescudaio denomination, at 400 metres above sea level. Here the winery maintains 27 ha of vineyards that extend from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the city of Volterra, in a region whose wine-producing tradition dates back to the Etruscan period, but which in present times is noted for its high quality products thanks to the efforts of small wineries.
Fattoria Sorbaiano produces about 100,000 bottles a year and has invested considerably in the modernisation of its facilities and the management of its vineyards which have held organic certification since 2013.
Montescudaio Rosso is a captivating wine, fruity, floral and easily drinkable. Its vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks where it remains for several months before being bottled. Its ruby-red colour provides proof of its youthfulness, as do its fresh fruit (cherry, plum, blackberry) aromas with an earthy undertone. It appears well-balanced on the palate, toning down its youthful vigour with a creamy texture, some pleasurable tannins and considerable juiciness. In short, a wine that offers a very enjoyable and relaxed drink, ready for immediate enjoyment.
