Review

Would you be surprised to learn that perfection and elegance now exist in rosé wine, in one made from the Prieto Picudo variety? A winemaker in the Tierra de León region has brought to bear all his considerable expertise and created this wonderful wine.

Bodegas Margón is a newly-established project that has started up with the intention of working with extreme care to get a job done well. Under the direct supervision of Raúl Pérez Pereira, star of the Spanish wine world, it is now delighting us with its new Pricum wines from Pajares de los Oteros (León).

Pricum Rosado overwhelms us with its freshness, in great combination with the abundance of fine red fruit. In the glass, not appearing a particularly intense shade, and after a light airing, it brings to mind the aromatic nuances of a Champagne rosé made of Pinot Noir and Meunier due to its extremely elegant nose.

The wine displays all its red berry fruit purity with a truly lovely mouthfeel, without being cloying and sickly sweet. Freshness, finesse and fruitiness that do Raúl justice.

A whimsical rosé in pure Champenoise style.

Food pairing

Red tuna / Salmon tartare / Grilled razor clams / Fruit salads

Bodegas Margón

Bodegas Margón

We find at Bodegas Margón the master hand of Raúl Pérez, working alongside the Martínez and González families to produce wines from the Prieto Picudo variety. The grapes come from old vineyards in Pajares de los Oteros, where the vines are left untrained without trellising, and the grapes are picked by hand at just the right moment.
