Bottle size and vintage
Scoring 98 out of 100 from James Suckling for this 2013 vintage, this extremely fine single varietal Merlot, originally starting out in 1994 in the Arezzo hills, needs no introduction nowadays. After 18 months of ageing in barrels, 6 of which are spent in contact with its lees, the end result is one of Italy's most harmonious and complex wines. On the nose, spicy and toasty notes, and on the palate, some very elegant tannins and an impressive structure.
- Optimum serving temperature:Between 16ºC and 18ºC
- Drinking and storing:Drink now or keep until 2043
The best in years
I'm a fan of this Tuscan super-Merlot. I've had the 06, the 07, the 09, the 10 the 14 and now the 2015. And honestly, it's the best I ever tasted. Young of course but loaded with the potential of becoming a real classic. Seriously!
