What does this wine taste like?
In the glass, it has an intense cherry red colour with a violet rim, clean and bright.
The nose is expressive and complex:
- Ripe black fruit, such as blackberries and plums.
- Notes of fresh red cherry.
- Sweet spices.
- Toasted and cocoa touches.
- An elegant balsamic background.
On the palate, it stands out for its volume and enveloping texture. The attack is broad, with polished, well-integrated tannins.
The fruit returns with force, accompanied by hints of vanilla, mild coffee, and a slight mineral note. The acidity is well balanced, bringing freshness and prolonging the finish.
It is an intense but harmonious wine. It has structure, but is not heavy. It maintains tension and depth until the last sip.

Winemaking
The 2023 vintage is the result of an exhaustive selection of bunches in the winery. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and oak vats under strict temperature control to preserve the purity of the fruit.
The wine is then aged for approximately 12 months in French and American oak barrels. Careful work on fine lees is the secret to its smoothness and its ability to integrate the wood without losing freshness.

Vineyards
The grapes come from plots located on the slopes of Peñafiel, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin. The clay-limestone and sandy loam soils give the blend a unique mineral richness. The continental climate of the area, with its marked temperature contrasts between day and night, ensures slow ripening, which translates into the intensity and elegance that characterise each bottle of Pago de Carraovejas.
