The wine

La Rasina is a family-run winery located in the eastern area of the Montalcino area, very close to the town. Neighbours to Casanova di Neri, the Mantengoli family owns about 11 hectares of vineyards and started wine-making at the end of the 1980s. Thirty years old now, the vineyards produce one of the Brunellos that is attracting the most attention of wine lovers in the last few years. The family style is based on the balance between juice, matter and freshness/verticality, in other words, on the enhancement of the more straighforward characteristics of the Sangiovese di Montalcino.

The Brunello does not disappoint. Dense and lively garnet red. Intense, pleasantly complex on the nose, where floral notes stand out as do the ripe and succulent red fruit, especially black cherries and currants, on a balsamic background of mint and liquorice. Hints of toasted and quinquina complete this very interesting bouquet. Of good freshness and excellent softness, extremely tannin and always pleasant, with lingering flavours of ripe fruit and light sapidity. Two years in various wood and four months in the bottle make it exciting with red meats, game, roasts, cured meats and aged cheeses.
