Details for Ettore Germano Barolo Serralunga 2015
Bottle size and vintage
Set in the incomparable landscape of the Serralunga hills, the Ettore Germano winery is one which needs no introduction. With no preconceived ideas nor any sort of commitment except that of absolute top quality, the Germano winery is among those most prone to encompassing experimentation and originality in this region.
In this context, in a harsh area of calcareous soils and with excellent exposure to the sun, comes this Barolo Serralunga. A real classic as regards its colour and aromas, with sweet notes of liquorice and refined hints of cherry conserve. A wine that's direct and invigorating on the palate, with endless persistence and memorable longevity.
A definite tribute to the classic Barolo in a bottle which sees the convergence of an exceptional vintage, an incredible terroir — barely a hectare away from such legendary crus as Prapò, Cerretta and Lazzarito —, and careful ageing for 2 years in oak barrels.

Lots of tannins and acidity, but what else to expect for a barolo? Difficult year this 2014 but still quite a proper wine. On the palate (and behind the tannins) there are berries and lots of dried fruits with underlying hint of oak and peppery notes. I'd keep this in a cellar for a few years but on the other hand this is quite drinkable already if you don't mind the mighty tannins. Goes well with beef of lamb roasts. Don't decant for too long or it closes up forever.by: Wiemus (12/12/2017) - Vintage 2013
Traditional style barolo, very promising , good levels of acidity and decent structure , recommended for the price at this levelby: olivier (10/03/2017) - Vintage 2012
