The wine

Castro de Valtuille Godello is a white wine produced by the Castro Ventosa winery, located in the wine region of Bierzo, in the province of León, Spain. This wine is mainly made from the Godello grape variety, a native grape variety of the region that has gained recognition for the quality of its white wines.

Castro de Valtuille Godello is characterised by its freshness, elegance and fruity expression. It has a pale yellow colour with greenish glints and offers intense aromas of white fruits, citrus and white flowers. On the palate, it is balanced, with a refreshing acidity and a structure that gives it a good persistence on the palate.

This wine reflects the unique character of the Bierzo terroir, with slate soils and Atlantic climate that contribute to the authentic expression of the Godello variety. It is a versatile wine that pairs well with a variety of dishes, from fish and seafood to salads and poultry dishes.

The Castro de Valtuille Godello is an excellent example of the potential of the Godello variety in Bierzo and represents the passion and commitment of the Castro Ventosa winery to produce high quality wines that reflect the identity of their terroir.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker

The entry-level white 2022 El Castro de Valtuille Godello comes from three plots in the village of Valtuille and matured in larger and smaller barrels, all used. It's quite Burgundian, with good ripeness, 13.36% alcohol, a low pH of 3.09 and 7.33 grams of sugar. The grapes were picked earlier, and the wine is lively, vibrant and very fresh. It's very impressive, tasty with an almost salty finish. Some 7,000 bottles were filled in August 2023.
