The wine

The soils of granite and schist clearly define this wonderful Grenache from the Roussillon that could be easily mistaken as one from the Sierra de Gredos. It has firm tannins with a juicy palate; it's robust while boasting elegance, thanks to a well-handled fruit and a conscious use of oak. Blackberries, violets, undergrowth and liquorice display a very clean and complex nose. The palate is medium-bodied and everything is beautifully tailored: the tannins have graceful power, a juiciness that is well refreshed by acidity and a touch of bitterness that make this Nicolas almost an addictive wine.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker

The 2018 Nicolas is 100% Grenache, still aging in a combination of demi-muids and tanks. There's a floral top note accenting ripe black cherries on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied, supple and creamy, finally finishing with a touch of velvet and spice. It should be a beauty when released later in the year.

Domaine Lafage

Domaine Lafage, situated on the outskirts of Perpignan, is the winery run by Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage, the sixth generation in charge of the family-owned vineyards. The winery's modern-day history began with 36 ha of inherited old vines and gradually extended over very varied corners of Roussillon, where different climates and terrains occur, enabling the winery to produce one of the most complete wine portfolios in the whole of France. Lying between the sea and the...
