The wine

Amarone Cinque Stelle from Michele Castellani conquers all palates with its perfect synthesis between tradition and innovation.

Made from the Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara varieties, the grapes come from the heart of the Valpolicella, where the vineyards owned by the Castellani winery enjoy the best conditions with respect to soil composition, parcel exposure and localised microclimate. Once carefully selected, the grapes are left to dry for three or four months after which they are pressed and fermented for a lengthy period of 40 days. 60% of the resulting wine is aged in 5,000-litre Slavonian oak barrels and the remainder in French oak barrels for around 3 years.

Appearing impenetrable and with a bold nose, Amarone Cinque Stelle is not shy in coming forward as regards expression, and seduces with an intense and structured bouquet which features enveloping aromas of black fruit, carob, herb liqueur, nutmeg, cinnamon and delicious dark chocolate.

On the palate it offers everything you could expect from a top quality Amarone: intensity, powerfulness, body and density. Very pleasant in flavour, its elegant and velvety tannins and its remarkable acidity give way to a sweet finish which emphasises the ripeness of the fruit and hints of chocolate. A modern-style and perfectly executed Amarone, full-bodied, smooth and perilously easy to drink.
