The wine

Arienzo de Marqués de Riscal Crianza 2018 is a red wine from D.O.Ca. Rioja, made mainly from Tempranillo grapes (96%) and a small proportion of Graciano (4%), coming from selected vineyards in Laguardia and Elciego, in Rioja Alavesa. This wine, produced by the prestigious Herederos del Marqués de Riscal winery, is characterised by its cherry red colour with garnet reflections and presents intense aromas of red fruits, wood, coconut and vanilla, the result of its 18 months of ageing in American oak barrels.

On the palate, Arienzo Crianza 2018 is fresh and fruity, with a pleasant, full and persistent attack, offering long-lasting flavours and remarkable character. It is versatile and can be enjoyed with appetizers, tapas, grilled meats, oily fish and cured cheeses, recommended to be served between 16 and 18 ºC. This wine is an excellent example of the tradition and quality of Rioja wines, ideal both for special occasions and to enjoy at any time

Marqués de Riscal's history began in 1858 when its founder, Camilo Hurtado de Amézaga, started to apply in Elciego wine-making techniques employed in Bordeaux. Jean Pineau, the master winemaker at Château Lanessan in the Haut Medoc, gave his professional advice to the then sixth Marquis of Riscal regarding the production of wines following the French system, therefore abandoning the rough and rather unrefined style of Rioja wine and thus establishing La Rioja's first modern...
