Review

Syrah vines are being introduced all over the south-east, since they adapt well to the climate, and the Valtosca has become one of the most successful wines produced over there using this varietal. José María Vicente, in charge of the winery’s technical side, has managed to convey perfectly to this wine the land’s character and its climate. Consistent and warm, it is notable for its minerality and complexity.

In appearance it is an intense cherry colour, with a vivid violet hue on the rim. On the nose it exudes toasty aromas, mineral hints, jammy notes, rich in fruit expression and mature. The palate is powerful, with very ripe tannins, jammy black fruit, earthy touches, minerals, and clearly complex.

Aged for 10 months in barrel.

Frescura

Sorprendente vino que rezuma frescura y proporciona un fuerte golpe de fruta. Con vinos así, tan agradables, se hace el camino más llevadero.

Lo mejor de Casa Castillo

Excelente combinación de syrah y roussanne. Imprescindible. Fresco, aromático y envolvente. Apto para carne y pescado. Nada que ver con los syrah mediterráneos.

Casa Castillo

Casa Castillo

Casa Castillo was founded in 1941, when Don José Sánchez-Cerezo acquired the estate with the aim of exploiting the rosemary of the mount. Inside the same property was an old winery that, in 1985, the second generation of the family decided to restart. Thus began a new project that included the restructuring of the vineyard and the planting of new varieties. In 1991, the winery building was renovated and two years later the first wine was released. Currently, Casa Castill...
