Taschlerhof, which for a while was one of the estates supplying the neighbouring Novacella Abbey, is nowadays a charming little artisanal winery directed by Peter Wachtler, an expert winemaker who, in little more than a decade, has done an admirable job in charge of his company. With barely four hectares of vineyards that grow on the steep slopes of the Isarco Valley, Taschlerhof produces 5 varietal wines which are excellently made, obtained by Wachtler through meticulous care in the vineyard and phenomenal technical skill in the winery.
The Taschlerhof vineyards are located to the south of Bresanone, at 530 metres above sea level, and enjoy the best possible sun exposure and a particularly favourable microclimate, with considerable diurnal temperature differences which favour the aromatic development of the grapes. The vineyards, rooted in slatey soils, endow the Taschlerhof whites with a characteristic and intense minerality.
A greenish yellow colour, the Taschlerhof Sylvaner offers on the nose notes of exotic fruits, lemon, apple, ginger, alfalfa, hay and the distinctive minerality of bare rock. An intense and clean bouquet in which every aroma seems tailor-made with amazing precision. On the palate, the outstanding features are its juiciness and balance, its easy and satisfying drinkability, its lively minerality and that delightful flavour that lingers on in a lengthy finish.
