The wine

Located in Appiano, in the far north of Italy, apart from being a modern hotel and restaurant, Stroblhof is also a winery which possesses 5 hectares of vineyards and produces around 40,000 bottles. At 500 metres above sea level, the Stroblhof vineyards enjoy excellent sun exposure and a particularly favourable microclimate experiencing warm days and cool nights. These characteristics, together with soils rich in limestone and cultivation carried out with all due respect to Nature, result in wines of the best possible quality.

Apart from respect for the land and tradition, Stroblhof reflects a personal and precise style which we can find in every bottle of Pigeno, a wine of remarkable balance and complexity. Made from Pinot Nero and vinified in large oak barrels, Pigeno triumphs on the nose with a fine, multi-faceted bouquet: aromas of red fruits, rose petals, moss, leather and delicate spicy notes. It flows smoothly on the palate, a fresh and pleasant drink which uncovers some very fine tannins and concludes with spicy hints. Definitely a good example of the refinement and expression the Pinot Nero is capable of delivering.
