The most well-suited land of the Chianti San Felice estate in Castelnuovo Berardenga, of medium clayey and calcareous texture particularly rich in skeleton, is the setting of the wonderful cradle of this monumental Gran Selezione. The mild, airy climate is an advantage for the wonderfully exposed plots of land of the Colti, Pianaccio and Chiesamonti vineyards between 350 and 400 metres above sea level and populated by Sangiovese which is 80% of the blend, and a series of native varieties that enhance the complexity of the wine and which perfectly express their territoriality.
From harvests which extend to the beginning of October and from organic farming, the San Felice Gran Selezione is one of the most noble and most-loved Chianti Classicos of the entire name. It is after all the product not only of very careful selection of grapes, but also of at least twenty years of studying both on the territory, with one of the region’s most in-depth zoning classifications, and on vines, so much so that the company Vitarium retains over two hundred of them, many of which are in danger of extinction.
Of a beautiful intense, pungent ruby colour, the Grigio Gran Selezione exudes a broad and ultra-fine spectrum of aromas on the nose, ranging from wood violet to cassis up to sweet spices, tobacco, cocoa and liquorice, thanks to both big and small wood ageing and malolactic fermentation. A wine of great character but not edgy, on the palette it is indeed caressing, with excellent soft tannins that expertly balance the typical freshness of the dominant vine.
Sublimely elegant and masterfully executed, the Grigio promises longevity of over fifteen years, whose taste-olfactory persistence, which is appreciated for its mineral freshness and aromatic depth, is its best prelude. Juicy and vertical at the same time, it is excellent with roasts and grilled red meat, and even better when accompanied by well-flavoured sauces. Or also with seasoned cheeses like the best Tuscan pecorinos.

Sleek and stylish
Typical Gran Selezione style - rich and concentrated, lots of extract and a fair bit of oak. Sleek, quite modern, but not overdone. Classy stuff.

Meat on the grill
Lots of cherries, tannins and a long taste of earth and leather. Perfect for a piece of beef. Store or drink!
