The wine

Passorosso starts out life on Etna, at an altitude ranging between 500 and 1,100 metres above sea level. It comes from vineyards that are nearly a hundred years old and planted with the Nerello Mascalese variety. On the Sicilian wine-producing scene, Etna is a unique and beautiful region which not only offers a landscape that is both surreal and stunning, but also wines with an elegance, finesse and minerality that prove difficult to find in other reds produced on the island. In addition, there's a special concentration of primary aromas in the wines resulting from the big difference in day and night temperatures.

Passorosso, which is the Passopisciaro's entry wine, is obtained from Nerello Mascalese grapes originating from various locations within the Etna Cru. Appearing a magnificent and bright ruby colour, in the glass it emanates enticing fruit and spicy aromas, red fruits, violets, pepper and aromatic herbs, that work wonderfully well with the delightful minerality. On the palate, its freshness and crisp texture precede red fruits that seem chewy, particularly red currant and cherry. Tannins are present on a palate that flows smoothly, cleanly and easily, and ends with a long finish exhibiting pleasant mineral hints.
