Ornella Pelissero makes her Bricco San Giuliano Barbaresco using grapes from her winery's oldest vineyards, grown at an altitude of 400 metres on land that has clay and calcareous soils and a south-west orientation.
Each vine produces around 1.5 kg of the Nebbiolo variety, which is harvested by hand between mid-September and mid-October and undergoes a rigorous selection process through quality control.
From vineyards which enjoy the best climatic conditions and so meticulous a cultivation the result could only be a Barbaresco with such personality and balance, as well as remarkable charm and vigour.
On the nose it offers generous aromas of red fruit (raspberry and cherry) and spices (cinnamon, liquorice and white pepper), which constitute an intense and elegant bouquet. Coming over as sensual on the palate, it overwhelms it with an enveloping caress. Presenting smooth tannins, its period in oak (24 months in barrels of different sizes) endows it with hints of coffee and hazelnut which lead to a finish of great balance.
