Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker, Suckling, and Jancis Robinson

The Chenin Blanc 2018 Propósitos is the top-of-the-range white signed by Gerardo Michelini, and it's a smoky and flinty white with great balance (not as extreme as some of the previous vintage). It comes from a parral in the Villaseca zone planted in 1970 (Gerardo's vintage), and despite being only 11.9% alcohol, the wine feels a bit wider, still sharp and dry, more in the style of a Chablis. All of the whites go through full malolactic, and this one is still sharp and dry but has a little more volume. The three single-vineyard whites are produced in a similar fashion, fermenting in oak vat with indigenous yeasts after a short skin maceration and then a long élevage, now almost three winters. 2018 feels like a very good vintage for the whites, very complete, with more flavors and nuance. 1,500 bottles were filled in June 2020.

Pronounced aromas of dried lime and grapefruit, apple skin, grilled pineapple, straw and neoprene. It’s medium-to full-bodied with bright acidity and a gently waxy texture. Salty and tangy with intensity yet freshness. Creamy and firm. Drink or hold.

— James Suckling (08/04/2021)JamesSuckling.com Vintage 2018 - 93 SUCKLING

Pale gold. Austere, bone dry but correct. Sincere, though maybe this would be even more delicious with a hint of residual sugar. Just a tad austere.
