The Alto Las Hormigas winery has two splendid terroir wines in its Apellation range: one from Paraje Altamira and this one from Gualtallary created with grapes growing in two chalky soil plots at an altitude of 1,300 metres. Aged for 18 months in 3,500-litre French oak foudres, the result is a faithful, wild and structured expression of the variety, the terroir and the vintage.
Las Hormigas Malbec Gualtallary is an austere and rustic wine with spicy and herbal notes perfectly integrated alongside hints of fresh red fruit, grass and minerals. On tasting, this aromatic expression is confirmed and soon a new layer of red fruit is added to the palate. With well-integrated acidity and fresh chalky tannins, it is a structured and long-lasting wine whose lingering taste in the mouth seems to go on forever. Its excellent potential for laying down makes it a great choice to keep at home ready for important occasions.
