The wine

The site is a pretty village nestled in a small valley north of Beaune. Le Clos des Godeaux is facing south, located at an altitude of 360 m. Neighbor of Premier Cru Lavières, photographers from all over the world go there to photograph the magnificent Burgundian cabotte that is there. The soil: calcareous Bathonian marl, light soils, although colored, studded with angular pebbles. Organic and biodynamic viticulture. Soil maintenance: the soils are fed with compost of manure and white wood, sometimes with Guanos. They are plowed either mechanically or by horses to contain the weeds. A supple and feminine wine! A ruby color, an elegant nose of small red fruits and flowers that can evoke roses, some spices. On the palate, it seduces with the subtle intensity of its aromas of blackcurrant, raspberries on always spicy notes. The attack remains supple, the silky tannins giving it a delicate finesse. Deep red color. Intense nose of red and black fruits. Fleshy palate, some sap. Nice length. Very long aging potential for prestigious wines. Very greedy for more modest wines.
