A modern-style, straight-forward wine that shows a commitment to lightness and elegance as opposed to the usual concentration. There is good handling of the oak, as the wine finds particular expression in the quality of the fruit.
In appearance, it is a garnet-dark cherry colour with plenty of density and violet hues on the rim. Showing good intensity, the nose is generous, mature, and significantly fruit-laden, predominantly displaying red fruit notes. There is also evidence of subtle spicy hints (cinnamon and vanilla) and a toasty background which, with some aeration, starts bringing out suggestions of black liquorice and just perceptible touches of menthol. It comes over as light on the palate, showing character, freshness, well-put together but not a lot of body. It has good acidity, expresses itself well and has reasonable length. It is attractively fruity and a little bit bitter, revealing some sturdy and very polished tannins.
12 months in new and 1-year Allier French oak barrels.

Un orchestra di potenti passioni
Vino complesso e articolato. Colpisce con profumi forti di frutti bosco, caffe, erbe... palato intenso con tannini forti ed eleganti. Vino già buonissimo ma con lunga. Ita davanti . Da riscoprire in cantina fra qualche anno

Bodegas Guelbenzu
Bodegas Guelbenzu looks back over a long history of generations of vine growers. Founded in the 19th Century, its fame extends from the Queiles Valley, with Bodega del Jardín (in Cascante, Navarra, where the family-owned estate is located) and Bodega de la Lombana (in Vierlas, Aragon, their new venture), as far as Chile.
