This is a fascinating wine which despite having been made like an Sforzato, with dried grapes, manages to keep some of the transparency of traditional Valtellina Superiore but with a much more tannic backbone, even after nine years. The tannins are still to be resolved completely, but they give a wonderful grip to the texture without obliterating the typical Nebbiolo fruit flavours. The taste of fennel and aniseed gives it a nice freshness, but blackberries, dry strawberries flowers and tar are also there. I would love to taste it in five years and even in ten. Excellent.
