The wine
What does this wine taste like?
It has an intense cherry red colour with a slightly brick-red rim, typical of its ageing.
The nose is complex and well-defined. Aromas of ripe black fruit, such as plum and blackberry, appear alongside notes of sweet spices, cocoa, roasted coffee, and fine wood. The ageing is integrated and does not dominate.
On the palate, it is structured, with firm but polished tannins. It has good acidity, which brings freshness and balance. The mid-palate is broad, with hints of ripe fruit and balsamic notes.
The finish is persistent and elegant, with an enveloping sensation that invites you to continue drinking.
This red wine is designed for those who enjoy full-bodied, complex wines with a clear evolution in the glass.
Drinking and storing
The ideal serving temperature is between 16 and 18 ºC.
It is best to open the bottle and let it breathe for a few minutes before serving. If you wish, you can decant it to enhance its aromatic expression.
The 2019 vintage is now at its optimum drinking stage, although it can evolve favourably for several more years if stored in good conditions, in a horizontal position and away from light.
It is a good choice for special meals, celebrations, or to expand your personal wine cellar with a Somontano reserve wine with potential.
Food pairing
Enate Reserva 2019 pairs well with flavourful dishes with a certain intensity.
Specific suggestions:
- Roast or grilled lamb
- Beef entrecôte
- Traditional stews
- Small game dishes
- Cured sheep's milk cheeses
It also works well with contemporary cuisine based on low-temperature meats or recipes with red wine reduction.
It is a gastronomic wine. It is at its best when enjoyed at the table.

Winemaking
The grapes are harvested at their optimum point of ripeness. After destemming, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged in oak barrels, where it remains for the time necessary to achieve reserve status.
It is then refined in the bottle before being released onto the market. This process adds aromatic complexity, stability, and ageing potential.
The winery works to rigorous technical criteria to maintain a consistent profile in each vintage.
Vineyards
The vineyards are located in the Salas Bajas area, in the province of Huesca, within the Somontano Designation of Origin.
The average altitude is around 400–600 metres above sea level. The climate is continental with Pyrenean influences, with temperature contrasts between day and night that favour balanced ripening.
The soils are varied, with limestone and stony materials, which aid drainage and give the grapes concentration.
The result is a wine with structure, freshness, and a distinct personality.
If you are looking for a Somontano reserve red wine that offers good value for money and is produced by a winery with a proven track record, Enate Reserva 2019 is a safe bet to add to your selection.
