The wine

Château Lamartine occupies a special place in the Cahors vineyard. Its 37 hectares planted in the oldest terraces of the Lot Valley benefit from an exposure to the south, which guarantees the good maturity of Malbec. The Gayraud family, vignerons for four generations in these clay and limestone soils, take great care of the cultivation of their vines and the aging of their wines.

Vines from 20 to 45 years old in clay-siliceous soil 30%, clay-limestone 50% and limestone 20%, 2nd, 3rd and 4th terrace of the Lot Valley. Yield of 50 Hl / ha. Traditional vinification with detachment of charge, maceration for 22 days. Aging in 60% of cement deposits, barrels and oak barrels (40%). Bottled from 20 months.

Dark garnet red color, good density that announces a lot of concentration, confirming the nose. First, exhale very ripe red berries and sweet spices, complemented by notes of undergrowth in the background. In the mouth, the harmony between these different elements is remarkable, it has a pleasant palate with a pleasant astringency. It will continue to be excellent for 5 or 8 years.
