Bembibre

One of the essential wines to get to know the true flavour of a wine made with care and love from old Mencia vines, Bembibre is a perfect example of the artisanal wine production in El Bierzo. This wine shows off all the strength, character and eloquence of Mencia grapes.

Although it does not reach the exceptional level of the Pago 3 wine, Bembibre offers the best of six different vineyards, selected from among the best plots in the Bierzo area: vineyards with decomposed gravel and slate soils, and low-yield vines over 60 years old. The wine stands in French oak barrels for 16 months, and then in the bottle for a further 24 months, resulting in a warm velvety wine. The final result is elegant and fruity with a scented nose — overall a well-balanced and flavoursome wine.
