The wine

Billecart-Salmon is a winery with one of the longest traditions in the Champagne region, and one of the few that still remains in the hands of its founders. This sparkling rosé is a refreshing, enlivening drink, and its fine, steady, long-lasting bubbles give the wine an elegance and freshness that would brighten up the dullest of days. It is also perfect for celebrating any event that requires marking with a touch of distinction.

Highly recommended, both for its price (reasonable for a Rosé Champagne) and for its impressive quality.

3 years of maturation.

Wine critics reviewsReviews by Parker, Jancis Robinson, and Suckling

Based on the 2016 vintage, the new NV Brut Rosé from Billarcart-Salmon has turned out nicely, mingling notes of red berries and plums with notions of peach, dried flowers and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, pillowy and elegant, it's bright and charming, with a generous core of fruit, racy acids and a pinpoint mousse. Giving and demonstrative, it's already drinking well.

Pale salmon; a bit darker than it used to be. Slight lolly aroma. Base of 2015 with less reserve wine (just 40%) than the Réserve Brut because they aim for fruity and frank. ‘We don’t want our rosé to be too vinous', they say, even though they acknowledge there’s a trend towards it, but they want to stay true to their style, and their customers. Their shortest-aged wine. They want it to be very fruity – which it certainly is.

Cinnamon and dried nutmeg add to the experience of bread dough and rose petals. Flavorful on the medium-bodied palate and finely poised with bright acidity. Medium-long on the finish. Drink now.
