Bottle size and vintage
If you're expecting to find a powerful, meaty wine, as we've become accustomed to with this denomination's wines, then you've got the wrong wine. Camino is delicate, subtle and smooth. Considering too the coupage used in its making, this description seems surprising, but it's true: Camino is a red which stands out due to its finesse, its freshness, sweet fruit complemented by floral nuances, an elegant and balanced ensemble, quite feminine.
It's a wine for intimate dinners and peaceful moments, a wine which brightens up the evening after a difficult day, providing lovely, enjoyable company. A good quality wine, discreetly but recognisably so, pleasurable, mature and refreshing too. It's like a pause along the way, enabling everyday life to carry on, ensuring you move forward in a positive frame of mind and feeling better; and that's exactly what's behind this winery which, resolute in its objective to improve with each vintage, has been offering us this wine since its first 2006 vintage. Camino is a blend of Syrah, Garnacha and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, in which none seems to highlight or be based on its usual characteristics, consequently it's a homogenous ensemble with a Mediterranean profile, fresh, aromatic and refined. It also pays homage to the Spanish poet Antonio Machado, exiled to nearby Collioure, a town that figures very prominently in the history of the family owning this winery.
Camino is a wine made with great sensitivity, a wine that exhibits a complex nose exuding aromas of sweet ripe fruit, and violets, with light menthol touches and a damp undertone of leather; a wine that has an intense palate, packed with jammy flavours, cherries, redcurrants and very ripe plums, notes of undergrowth and damp earth that impart mineral hints and toasty nuances, of biscuits. It's immensely drinkable, with tannins very nicely blended, and a finish that may hint at a bit of bitterness, but isn't convincing and instead lengthens its persistence. To repeat, a wine for intimate meals, peaceful moments, ideal for brightening up a dinner after a difficult day.
NOTE: We recommend letting it breathe for about 30 minutes.

Ein sehr ausgewogener Wein, der trotz seiner Jugend sanft und elegant den Gaumen umspielt. Im Abgang zart und doch lange anhaltend. Absolut empfehlenswert.by: Roland (08/06/2017) - Vintage 2014
Un vin puissant et équilibré, une magnifique expression du terroir d'Emporda. A recommander pour tous les amateurs de vins méditerranéens.
Marc and Emma Bournazeau, a French couple with Catalan connections, moved to this area on seeing its potential, and brought with them a considerable amount of vine-growing experience. Becoming established in 2002, their estate now comprises 40 hectares of land that includes 23 hectares of vineyards growing a whole host of black and white grape varieties.
