The wine

The Bergerie de l'Hortus rouge is a blend of wines from our vines with certain wines from winemakers who are friends of the AOC Pic Saint Loup who work with the same standards as ours. The wines come from plots located at the bottom of the slope with less marked exposure than the plots of mid-coast. The maturities on the whole are later than those encountered for the Domaine de l'Hortus cuvée. The soils formed on scree of limestone shards are shallower. In fact, the vines are more sensitive to summer drought. The maturities obtained lead to fine cellar work: relatively short maceration and aging.
