The wine

It is the awareness of its own history that keeps Baglio di Pianetto firmly tied to its chosen territories, the Palermo countryside and the Val di Noto, the authentic expression of two opposing terroirs that are nevertheless functional to a design of quality, because they are complementary. The eco-sustainable production of Baglio di Pianetto, confirmed and strengthened by the conversion to organic farming of the entire estate (about 160 hectares), is also an expression of the attention paid to the requests of wine lovers who want to know what they are buying and drinking.

.

The Baglio di Pianetto Shiraz is produced on the property's eastern estate, called Baroni, in the countryside of Pachino but belonging to the renowned Noto wine-growing district. The soils are sandy-calcareous and, despite the relative proximity of the sea, the climate is mild, with pronounced temperature ranges that guarantee excellent aromatic elegance to the wines: it is no coincidence that Shiraz is the only international grape variety grown in these parts.

.

This is a Sicilian red wine characterised by the intensity of its aromas, which strikes you at first impact when you approach the glass of this ruby red wine. The typical aromas of ripe cherries and berries, with balsamic and white pepper hints, make up a broad and multifaceted olfactory sensation. On the palate, the wine is dry and sapid, with a persistent finish. On the whole, it is a full-bodied wine with excellent harmony, supported by velvety tannins.

It only matures in steel, but for an extended period of no less than 14 months before bottling. It is perfect with traditional red meat dishes, such as steak or stews, and with moderately mature cheeses.
