Bodegas Ateca

Bodegas Ateca was founded in 2005 in the village of Ateca, located in Zaragoza province about 14 kilometres outside Calatayud. The winery is part of the Oro Wines project, set up by businessman Jorge Ordóñez, basically for the purpose of producing quality wines in different regions of Spain that are destined for the United States market. In line with other wineries belonging to the group, Ateca enjoys the services of an Antipodean oenologist, Australian Sarah Morris, who expertly handles tastes in New World wines and the developing tastes required by expanding markets.

Ateca owns 55 ha of old vineyards planted on slate soils on the nearby hillsides, with Garnacha being the predominant variety.

Bodegas Ateca belongs to Gil Family, a winery group that shares media-marketing activities and promotional campaigns with other wineries, and which also includes Bodegas Atalaya, Bodegas El Nido, Bodegas y Viñedos Shaya, Bodegas Tritón, Cellers Can Blau, Orowines, Lagar Da Condesa and Bodegas Juan Gil.
