Pago Casa del Blanco

Pago Casa del Blanco is a family-owned winery, with over 150 years of history, and an albeit brief but intensely active wine-growing tradition that in 2010 managed to achieve the highest category in wine classification: the Protected Denomination of Origin Pago Casa del Blanco.

The Vinos de Pago certification requires considerable effort and compliance with some very strict quality regulations, but it ratifies and guarantees the singularity and personality of wines originating from and produced in a unique and exclusive terroir. The 150 hectares of owned vineyards are located in the municipal area of Manzanares (Ciudad Real) and enjoy a micro-climate and the benefits of a very specific soil, with an unusual feature too: a concentration of lithium, a trace element with properties that improve the immune system, more so than normal, which is transferred to the wines.

The Pago Casa Blanco team is made up of several professionals and family members, including Antonio Merino as oenologist, and is headed by Joaquín Sánchez. Showing the utmost respect for the environment, they grow the white varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Moscatel de Grano Menudo (Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains) and Airén; and the reds, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Garnacha.

The winery, of their own design and build and completely integrated into the natural environment, has been equipped with the most modern technology which combines perfectly with tradition, and, after a patient and lengthy repose, wines are released appertaining to their three brands: Quixote and Lithium in red, and Castillo de Pilas Bonas in white.
