Félix Sanz

Bodegas Félix Sanz operates from one of those unique wineries in the old quarter of Rueda that is built over ancient underground cellars dating back to at least the 15th Century. The winery was founded back in 1934, but a total modernisation of the installations and replanting of the vineyards more than 10 years ago gave a complete uplift. There is the capacity for storing 500,000 litres in the bodega, well-equipped with over 300 barrels.

The 30 hectares of vineyards are located about 3 km out of town and are planted with the native Verdejo variety, as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Viura, which provide a complete range of Rueda wines. This is supplemented by singular red wines that are making their mark, emanating from two other denominations - the Ribera del Duero and Castilla y León regions - since Tempranillo, Garnacha and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are also being grown by this winery. Plus the business is moving in the direction of wine tourism by taking a pioneering stance in Rueda, which enables them to showcase their wines and satisfy a new consumer interest.
