Edetària is the personal project of Joan Àngel Lliberia, son of a farmer and grandson of an oenologist, an agricultural engineer by profession and a real enthusiast for his land and vines. His efforts and fine work have earned him a place among the benchmark signature wines of the Terra Alta, a denomination with a very long vine-growing tradition and well-established wine-making experience, which is now aiming to follow in the footsteps of its neighbour, the Priorat.
Hard work with a little improvisation plus creativity, experience and intuition, respect for nature and tradition, and the latest technology always put to good use in the vineyards, are the trump cards played by Joan Àngel and his team when making the wines – wines impregnated with terroir, individual and with a touch of artistic creativity that singles them out.
Edetària only produces wine from vines on its own estate, mostly old vines grown in five different terroirs. From the interaction of the various grapevines with their terrain, he obtains a variety of distinctive grapes which are what define the marked personality of the wines, with Edetària Blanc his best exponent and his most established and highly-esteemed wine.
The Edetaria winery is a remarkable building, with simple lines and a modern design, surrounded by old vines.
