Wines from Courvoisier
Courvoisier Initiale Extra
Courvoisier is one of the four most important producers of cognac in the world. It is also one of the most praised producers and offers a wide range of luxury cognacs as well as a fascinating history. Legend has it that Napoleon chose Courvoisier as his favourite cognac, and its historic popularity is alive and well today with modern culture also paying homage to this cognac, as seen in the hip hop song 'Pass the Courvoisier' by Busta Rhymes and P. Diddy.
Courvoisier uses an extremely careful distillation process and top quality local ingredients. They work exclusively with four large crus (officially certified areas where grapes for cognac can be grown): Borderies, Fins Bois, Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, as they are very strict about which vine-growers they source their grapes from. The wine is then distilled during a very precise limited period — from November to March, 24 hours a day. The finished product is separated into three parts and Courvoisier only use the pure clear liquid from the 'heart' of the distilled spirit to make their cognac. This is then aged in hand-crafted barrels made from 200-year-old French oak. It is the only cognac house which controls all the production process, from the grapes used to the magnificently designed Courvoisier glass bottles the final products are presented in.
Courvoisier makes for the perfect choice for a celebration. A delicate combination of art and science, using both traditional techniques and modern technology. The experience of trying a Courvoisier cognac means much more than its aroma and flavour — it's a complete experience for all the senses, a pleasure for newcomers to this brand as well as for those who are already fans.
